ANKARA WILL BE CAPITAL OF SPORTS”

10/9/2020 Stating that he believed Ankara would also be the capital of sports, Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu said, “The more we spread sports across the general public and the more we strengthen the sports culture, the more success we will attain in international Olympics and championships”.


Minister Kasapoğlu attended the groundbreaking ceremony of 9 sports facilities to be built in Altındağ district. Minister Kasapoğlu gave a speech at the ceremony and underlined the fact that Turkey was aiming for the top for the last 18 years and revolutionized facility constructions. Minister Kasapoğlu said, “We are all witnesses to the fact that our country is ambitious about reaching the top in every area. It is our duty to prepare our young athletes for the future and to make all means available to our young people and athletes”.

Indicating that they were striving to raise this bar higher with each passing day, Minister Kasapoğlu said, “Together, we believe that Ankara will also be the capital of sports with these facilities rising in Altındağ and other locations of our beloved capital, Ankara”.


Stating that they would make up shortages, whatever they might be, Minister Kasapoğlu said:

“What we want from our young people, our nation and our women is to fill these facilities day and night. Because our facilities are beautiful with out people, our youngsters and our athletes benefitting from them. We need to work towards becoming a nation that exercises and has adopted sports as a lifestyle. The more we spread sports across the general public and the more we strengthen the sports culture, the more success we will attain in international Olympics and championships. We believe that we will raise the champions, stars and the giant men of Europe and the Olympics from Altındağ, from other locations in Ankara and from all over our country”.

Underlining that sports was not made up of just a few branches, Minister Kasapoğlu said, “We are trying to introduce many branches to our citizens, our young people. These are the facilities that will train our young people in fencing, judo, wrestling, swimming, and archery among others. I believe that our mayor and his team are working and will work to put these facilities into use of our public as quickly as possible. And we will continue to stand by Altındağ and our valuable neighbors, as we stand by every corner of our country”.

Balcı: “Sports in Altındağ will rear up so to speak thanks to our Minister”


Speaking at the ceremony, Altındağ Mayor Asım Balcı stated that they would continue to be the supporters of athletes and said, “Thanks to these facilities, I believe that the future champions will be raised in Altındağ. Sports in Altındağ will rear up so to speak thanks to our Minister”.


The sports facilities underway in Altındağ are as follows:

“Athlete factory (Ulubey neighborhood), 5 individual training halls (Beşikkaya, Yıldıztepe, Karapürçek, Gültepe, and Karacaören neighborhoods), 1 archery facility (Doğantepe neighborhood), and 2 swimming pools (Battalgazi and Feridun Çelik neighborhoods)”
