THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS
The decree on establishment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports was made by the Council of Ministers on July 03, 2011 pursuant to Law No. 6223 dated April 06, 2011.
The Directorate General of Physical Education was established upon the law no. 3530, enacted on June 29, 1938.  It was initially established under the name of Ministry of Youth after 1969 Turkish general election and İsmet Sezgin was assigned as the first minister on November 03, 1969.  The name of the ministry was changed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 1972. After the 1983 general election, the ministry was changed to the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports. As of April 1, 1989, its activities are continued as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Directorate General of Youth and Sports. In 2011, it was re-established under the name of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkish Republic.
